Battle baddies in this nostalgic throwback to the era of 8 bit gaming. A challenging platformer with a heart.
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is a complete edition of the popular Shovel Knight game, perhaps one of the most notable games to come out of the retro gaming revival of recent years. It is an engaging platformer that is very much authentic to the genre and time from which it draws its inspiration. You play as Shovel Knight, and your task, using your trusty weapon, Shovel Blade, is to take down the Knights of the Order of No Quarter. The gameplay is old fashioned side scrolling action—jump, run, and attack enemies as you make your way through the levels. Battle bosses, play multiple campaign modes, and even play other knights in their own adventures. The art style is 8 bit, which you may or may not like, but it is very well done.
A Fun Time
Shovel Knight brings the feel of early '90s gaming to modern PCs, in looks, feel, and style. Shovel Knight may be too difficult for the more casual gamers, and possibly too short for more experienced gamers. It is also quite pricey for a game of this type that's been around some time now.
